MEET THE TEAM
When the right people come together as a team, magic happens. Quality and service are our number one priority when it comes to guest experience.
Our Management Team goes to incredible lengths to ensure our guests' experience is a safe, positive and memorable one.
COVID-19 has presented challenges for the restaurant industry as a whole, but with the dedication and hard work of our wait staff, kitchen staff and management team, we have met the challenges of the COVID-19 Crisis and adapted our method of service to ensure the same high quality, pleasant experience that our patrons have loved and enjoyed since we opened our doors in
May of 2016.
Joel Lattimore - HEAD CHEF
Joel and his family opened the Rustic Spud in May of 2016.
Joel has had a very colourful career as a chef. He began his culinary journey as a child where you could usually find him in the kitchen with his mom baking cookies. When he was 15 years old he started dishwashing in a restaurant called Allie Lou's Steakhouse where he took interest in the hustle of kitchen and he fell in love with the idea of becoming a chef. Inspired, he later attended the 2 year Culinary Arts Program at St. Lawrence College. After successfully earning his Red Seal, Joel worked in various kitchens in Toronto and Kingston, including Queens University, gaining a ton of knowledge and experience, including the opportunity to open Chef Michael Smith's Canadian Grilling Company.
The Rustic Spud started as a dream, then a catering company and quickly grew into a restaurant, that is now a staple in downtown Kingston's culinary scene.
Amber Morgan- GENERAL MANAGER
Amber has 15 years experience in the service industry. Specifically, she has accumulated experience in bar tending, serving and managing at different establishments in Kingston. We are fortunate to have acquired her skill set in the winter of 2017 and since then Amber has taken over as our Front of House manager. Throughout the COVID-19 Crisis, Amber's leadership, creativity and adaptability was key in Rustic Spud's success in pivoting to meet the safety standards required to keep our patrons safe.
